DARE is a wonderful program for all fifth graders at Tchefuncte Middle. Officer Grundmeyer heads up the DARE program at our school. “ DARE teaches about drugs in a fun way” says Lauren, Sophie ,and Leah three fifth grade students at TMS. This program educates kids on the dangers of drugs. Officer Grundmeyer goes to each fifth grade classroom once a week and does many things with the class such as skits, stories, and even bringing drug kits. “The skits are fun Sometimes they become hilarious,” said Sophie L., a fifth grade student.

Currently there are about 300 fifth grade students in the DARE program at TMS. DARE lasts for eighteen weeks and when the program ends there is a DARE graduation. Each student writes an essay. Out of each class, one essay is picked which is meaningful and says a lot about how the D.A.R.E program has affected the lives of of T.M.S fifth Grade students. Each class also does a skit or composes a song to perform at the graduation. The DARE program is not only fun for kids, but it also assures parent that their children won’t do DRUGS.
